Strategy

As a young company entering the crowded cybersecurity space in 2021, Astrix Security faced the challenge so many category-creating startups do: making an emerging, unfamiliar risk feel urgent to the C-suite. Founded by Unit 8200 veterans Alon Jackson and Idan Gour, Astrix set out to put non-human identities (i.e., API keys, OAuth apps, service accounts, and, later, AI agents) on the map as a blind spot enterprises could no longer afford to ignore.

To build that awareness, our approach needed to cover multiple angles of exposure: educational campaigns across security trade and business media, expert commentary that inserted Astrix into breaking-news breach coverage, and a sustained thought leadership program. We secured 100+ articles per year across publications like the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Insider, as well as security outlets like Dark Reading, SC Media, and CRN. Astrix’s CEO was also a featured speaker at the Wall Street Journal’s CIO Summit, and the company was recognized on Fortune’s Cyber 60 list, SINET 16, and RSA’s Innovation Sandbox.

That sustained media presence helped transform Astrix from an early-stage startup into not just a recognized name but a sought-after company in non-human identity and AI agent security — drawing recognition from the White House as an AI Security Innovator under President Biden’s AI Executive Order, and attracting enterprise customers including Workday, Xerox, HubSpot, Pagaya and Priceline. The momentum only continued from there: Astrix’s pioneering approach to non-human identity and AI agent security caught the attention of Cisco, and in June 2026, the Fortune 100 company officially acquired Astrix Security in an estimated $350-$400 million deal.

Results

In 3.5 years, Beyond Trending’s PR strategy helped Astrix secure 350 media placements, from breaking coverage of a zero-day flaw in Google Cloud Platform to milestone funding announcements backed by investors like Menlo Ventures and Anthropic. This consistent cadence of breaking-news commentary, original research and thought leadership reached an audience of more than 914.1 million, equating to over $8.5 million in advertising value equivalency, positioning Astrix as the go-to voice on non-human identity risk, laying the groundwork for the company’s acquisition by Cisco in 2026.
