Brittanie Dabney, Ecosphere Organics

Brittanie Dabney, CEO & Co-Founder of Ecosphere Organics, joins host Liza Vilnits to discuss a Trellis article, “The world is becoming less circular. Here’s how to reverse that,” by Elsa Wenzel.

Brittanie expands upon the fact that the share of secondary materials in the economy has dropped from 7.2% to 6.9% in two years. She expands upon the gap in infrastructure with recycling plants, causing a lot of the major issues in regulation in the US. She also points out that other countries, particularly across Europe, are way ahead. In her opinion, one trend worth investing in would be developing modular processing where pre-consumer food waste can be transformed into a product on-site, reducing the costly need to transport that waste.
