San Jose LGBTQ speakers bureau sees increased demand

As LGBTQ rights continue to trend in the news, Caminar's LGBTQ Speakers Bureau has seen an increase in demand lately. The Speakers Bureau, run by Caminar's LGBTQ Youth Space, brings together panels of volunteers to present to groups in the private and public sectors in the San Jose area. 

“Even though we might be a small group, we are getting requests every day and new volunteers every day. It tells us there is a need for these conversations we are having," says Justin Ortiz, coordinator for the Speakers Bureau.  Read more about their work in this Bay Area Reporter article!

Fake DMV texts are scamming residents in NJ, NY: How to avoid them

Scammers are impersonating DMVs in multiple states including New York and New Jersey—using fake texts to steal personal and financial information. 👀

Check Point researchers uncovered a large, fast-moving phishing operation involving hundreds of spoofed DMV websites that mimic official government portals in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, California, and Illinois. The scam texts usually claim a license is about to be suspended or a renewal deadline has passed. Check out the story on Fox NYC - WNYW 5.
